About Lessons

In lessons we will work on posture, breathing, aural skills, expanding range, vocal technique, and repertoire.

We will work on pitch awareness, projection, expression, vocal control, dynamics, resonance, and flexibility to release jaw tension in order to achieve your goals. You will learn how to support your sound and train your muscles in order to sustain notes by learning how your posture and alignment affect your singing. You will learn dramatic exercises and song interpretation to help build character and overcome stage fright and performance anxiety.

We will work on songs, training in the classical style, which are best suited for your voice to further your vocal growth and strengthen your sound. You will also gain knowledge about vocal repertoire, musical styles, basic music theory and solfege. Please see the policies section for further information.

"I could not have found a better voice teacher for my two children. Kim is patient, kind, and so incredibly talented. She knows her craft, and how to relate to kids to bring out their best. My children are involved in a variety of activities, and voice lessons with Kim are the ONLY one that they never complain about. Their voices have improved so much, so quickly, and they are having fun! I've recommended Kim to many friends and those that have taken me up on lessons with her have only been impressed and happy. You can't go wrong with Kim Barker! She's the best!."

“Barker Studios360 has, by far, been the best thing for my aspiring singers. Their voices have grown exponentially with increased range, breath support, and confidence. Kim Barker teaches them proper techniques to protect the integrity and sustainability of their voices. We couldn’t be more pleased with the results of the four years and counting of lessons our daughters have benefitted from."
