 Lesson Policies

Payment is due on the first of the month, in full for the month. Payment is a monthly Tuition, not a per week/per lesson fee, unless you taking Flex lessons then payment is due at each lesson. Students taking Tuition based lessons must commit to an entire semester.*

The 2024-2025 calendar is as follows. Fall Semester is September 2nd through December 13th and Spring Semester is January 27th through May 23rd. *This makes 14 lessons for the Fall semester and 18 lessons for the Spring semester. Summer 2024 session is 9 weeks. Students may sign up for 8, 6, or 4 lessons within these 9 weeks. Payments are listed on the payment page, under the student portal.

Students canceling a lesson may select an available make-up lesson that is not on the same day/time as their normal lessons, if lessons are canceled within 24 hours. It is the student/parent responsibility to schedule a make up a lesson, or fee will be forfeited. A make-up lesson CANNOT be scheduled as the next lesson, there are no "credits". Make-up lessons must be scheduled with me within a week of missing the lesson and cannot be carried over. I understand illness or emergencies happen, sometimes in less than 24 hours, and in those cases, lessons may also be rescheduled if notice is given more than 4 hours before your lesson time. If less than 4 hour’s notice, lesson fee/time will be forfeited. No shows or students arriving more than 10 minutes late for a 30 minute lesson or more than 20 minutes late for a 45 minute lesson or more than 35 mins late for hour lessons will be canceled and not eligible for a make-up lesson.

If a student is not feeling 100%, but would still like a lesson, lessons can be moved online. If a student is sneezing, coughing, or showing any signs of illness, please be respectful of my household and schedule an online lesson or cancel. Students showing up with signs of illness will be sent home.

In the case that I need to cancel a lesson, I will make sure to help schedule a make-up lesson, or add additional time to reoccurring lessons.

Students are required to practice vocalise exercises, current song pieces and other assigned homework for a total of 80 minutes a week. Practice charts are to be filled out (can be a plain piece of paper, or print out from my studio) weekly with songs and exercises practiced. This includes music theory worksheets. Print a practice sheet HERE.

Students are required to have a 3-ring binder to hold all repertoire that I have printed for them. In most cases, I have purchased the music online or bought books. Theory books can also be purchased online or through my studio. Students should bring all materials/music and a water bottle to lessons. If taking lessons online, please be prepared before you log on to lessons, and be in a well-lit space where it is quiet, away from others.

There will be a Winter recital and a Spring Recital.  Location will be provided via email newsletter. Tuition based students are expected to attend both recitals and perform at least one solo. There will be a one time registration fee per year for tuition based students of $25 to cover costs of materials and recital rental space. If a new student begins in the Spring semester, registration will be applied then. Families only need to pay one fee.

Weather Policy: If AACPS cancels school due to snow or other weather, we can meet for lessons online, or use your discretion if you wish to attend in person. If you wish to cancel, fee will be forfeited.

Students wishing to discontinue lessons, must provide 15 days written notice. Under 15 day’s notice will require a half-month payment to cancel lessons. Some extreme circumstances are exempt.

***Parents/Legal Guardians are required to sign the agreement on the registration form, agreeing to these terms. If a student is over 18, they must sign the agreement and be responsible for all timely payments. Failure to submit payment within 5 days of the due date will incur a $15 late fee.
