Payment is due on the first lesson of the month, in full for the month. If you choose to pay weekly, the fee is increased to the a la carte rate. Payment is a monthly Tuition, not a per week/per lesson fee, unless you pay the a la carte rate, which can be found here. Tuition is the same every month, regardless if there are 5, 4, 3 or 2 weeks in a month*.
The 2022-2023 calendar is as follows. Fall Semester is September 5th through December 16th and Spring Semester is January 9th through May 26th. There are no lessons the week of March 13-17, November 21-25 and the weeks of December 19-30 for the holiday's. I understand private schools and AACPS have different spring breaks and I will work with you make up that week's lesson. *This makes 32 weeks for lessons, which averages 3.5 lessons a month.
Students canceling a lesson may select an available make-up lesson that is not on the same day/time as their normal lessons, if lessons are canceled within 24 hours. It is the student/parent responsibility to schedule a make up a lesson, or fee will be forfeited. A make-up lesson CANNOT be scheduled as the next lesson, there are no "credits". If a make-up slot isn't available or a time you can commit to, you can attend one of the group make up days, TBA. *Due to Covid-19, all group lessons will be online. Make-up lessons must be scheduled with Kim within a week of missing the lesson and cannot be carried over. I understand illness or emergencies happen, sometimes in less than 24 hours, and in those cases, lessons may also be rescheduled if it is more than 4 hours before your lesson time. If less than 4 hour’s notice, lesson fee/time will be forfeited. No shows or students arriving more than 10 minutes late for a 30 minute lesson or more than 20 minutes late for a 45 minute lesson will be canceled and not eligible for a make-up lesson.
If a student is not feeling 100%, but would still like a lesson, lessons can be moved online. If a student is sneezing, coughing, or showing any signs of illness, please be respectful of my household and schedule an online lesson or cancel. Students showing up with signs of illness will be sent home.
In the case that I need to cancel a lesson, I will make sure to help schedule a make-up lesson, or add additional time to reoccurring lessons.
Students wishing to discontinue lessons, must provide 30 days written notice. Under 30 day’s notice will require a half-month payment to cancel lessons. Some extreme circumstances are exempt.
Students are required to practice vocalise exercises, current song pieces and other assigned homework for a total of 80 minutes a week. Practice charts are to be filled out (can be a plain piece of paper, or print out from my studio) weekly with songs and exercises practiced. This includes music theory worksheets.
Students are required to have a 3-ring binder to hold all repertoire that I have printed for them. In most cases, I have purchased the music online at musicnotes.com or at a Music and Arts store. Theory books can also be purchased online or through my studio. Students should bring all materials/music and a water bottle to lessons. If taking lessons online, please be prepared before you log on to lessons, and be in a well-lit space where it is quiet, away from others.
There will be a Winter recital on December 4th 2022 at 2 pm, and a Spring Recital on May 7th 2022 at 2pm. Location is TBD. Students are expected to attend both recitals and perform at least one solo. Please add these dates to your calendars now.
There will be a yearly fee of $25 to cover costs of materials and recital rental space.
Weather Policy: If AACPS cancels school due to snow or other weather, we can meet for lessons online, or use your discretion if you wish to attend in person. If you wish to cancel, fee will be forfeited.
***Parents/Legal Guardians are required to sign the agreement on the registration form, agreeing to these terms. If a student is over 18, they must sign the agreement and be responsible for all timely payments. Failure to submit payment within 5 days of the due date will incur a $15 late fee.
